Greyhounds dominate Team North roster in Upper Midwest High School Elite League

Duluth East junior defenseman Phil Beaulieu is one of Minnesota's most sought after unsigned college recruits at the outset of the 2012-13 season. A strong showing in the Elite League will likely push the three-year Greyhounds starter to the top of several college recruiting lists. Submitted

Six players from four-time defending Section 7AA champion Duluth East — including highly-coveted unsigned college prospect Phil Beaulieu, a junior defenseman — and Bulldogs recruit Adam Johnson of Hibbing-Chisholm have been selected to play for Team North in the Upper Midwest High School Elite League this fall, the league announced today.

Also named to the 20-player roster are Cloquet-Esko-Carlton rock stars Karson Kuhlman and brothers Westin and Beau Michaud, all forwards and top Division I prospects. Kuhlman is on pace to become the Lumberjacks’ all-time scoring leader, possibly surpassing former Cloquet greats Jamie Langenbrunner, Corey Millen and Derek Plante.

The top high school players from Minnesota and North Dakota participate in the heavily-scouted, six-team league. Elite League teams open training camp on Labor Day weekend, and the regular season begins Sept. 8.
